The rules

Afterview pays people to write genuine reviews of short films. A reward is payment for a real opinion, written after genuinely watching the film. It is not payment for a favourable one.

A reward requires three things: you finished the film, you published a review of it, and the film had a funded reward campaign running at the time. All three are checked on our servers. Your browser does not get a say in any of them.

The amount is fixed by the film’s length before you start watching. Nobody — not you, not the funder — can change what a particular review pays after the fact.

One star and five stars pay identically. Funders cannot require positive reviews, cannot withhold payment for critical ones, and cannot see how you rated a film before it is published. If that ever stops being true, the platform has stopped being worth anything.

• Faking playback, or skipping through a film you did not watch.
• Posting the same review text across films or accounts.
• Running several accounts to claim the same campaign repeatedly.
• Automating any part of watching or reviewing.

We hold suspicious rewards for review rather than deleting them. If a reward is refused, it goes back to the film’s budget and the decision is recorded with a reason.

Cleared rewards can be withdrawn to the wallet you signed in with, once they pass a minimum worth the network fee. A withdrawal locks that balance while it is paid; if the payment fails or is cancelled, the balance returns to you in full.

Payments are sent on a blockchain and are public and irreversible once confirmed. We verify every payment against the chain before marking it paid.

Every film here is published under an open licence by the people who made it, and is credited and linked to its source. We do not host anything we do not have the right to show.

You keep ownership of what you write. By publishing it here you allow us to display it on the platform. You can withdraw it at any time.
